Compact Graduated Oak Bookcase

Art Deco “Skyscraper” Graduated Oak Bookcase – c. 1930s

Step into the glamour of the Jazz Age with this striking Art Deco graduated bookcase, fresh from the Eclectic Interiors’s private collection.

Crafted in English oak, its bold stepped silhouette rises like a Manhattan tower, each tier dramatically narrower than the last—the unmistakable “skyscraper” form that defined 1930s design. The rich, heavily figured oak glows with its original patina, tight flame patterns dancing across clean geometric lines and softly rounded edges. Discreet original brass ring pulls and escutcheons catch the light with just the right understated sparkle.

Five graduated shelves create perfect staging: substantial room below for tall folios or sculpture, tapering upward to display your most cherished first editions or treasured objects. It’s an architectural statement piece with real presence—equally at home anchoring a living room, lining a study wall, or adding drama to a hallway.

Completely original finish, no breaks or repairs, tight joints throughout, and that effortless 1930s swagger. The kind of bookcase that stops conversations and starts them again with, “Where on earth did you find that?”
